Seether performed at Sokol Auditorium in Omaha, Nebraska on May 23rd, 2017.
Seether recently released “Poison the Parish” and I was given one of the first listens to the record and review of it is HERE. After the first listen I liked this album…probably more than one human should. Needless to say I was pretty stoked to photograph and see Seether live. From a listener’s perspective the they provided a good concert experience. Very powerful out of the gate, Seether opened with Gasoline from their 2002 record, “Disclaimer” Completely rocked my face off. The second song, Truth, from 2005’s record “Karma & Effect” was noted by Seether front man, Shaun Morgan, as the first time they had played the song live in over 8 years. No matter though, the hardcore fans that came to the show knew the words.
The final song of the three allowed by photographers was Nobody Praying for Me of the “Isolate & Medicate” album from 2014. Oddly, Seether did not play any songs from the recently released “Poison the Parish” in the first three songs (the allowed limit for photographers). As I left the photo pit to enjoy the rest of the show they played Fine Again, Broken, Black Honey (a Thrice cover), and Fake It. None of these songs were from “Poison the Parish.” In fact, the only song they played from the new album was Let Me Down. They did a very good job of rocking the hell out of the auditorium none the less.

If you paid to listen to one of your favorite bands play all of their old favorite songs, the you won the night. But, if you came to see them play you were out of luck because all we got were silhouettes from the red, yellow, green, and blue back lighting. Winners of the show got what they paid for with a great live performance by Seether, losers got to see the shadows of what may have been the band they paid to see.
As for the support bands, Letters From the Fire and Kaleido, they came out, kicked ass and took names. I hope that I get to see them again on another tour because I had a lot of fun photographing them and talking to them after their sets.

At the end of the night, I would say great performances by all of the bands. But, I really like to see bands play and not shadows of bands play.
